
Senator Philip Haines represents the 8th Legislative district covering parts of Burlington County. Senator Haines is currently serving his first term in the State Senate. He is a graduate of LaSalle University and earned a law degree at Rutgers University in 1981. His law firm, Caplan Haines, is located in Mount Laurel. The Senator served in the New Jersey Army National Guard from 1970 to 1976. From 1999 to 2004 he was a member of the New Jersey Council on Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, and currently serves on the executive board of the Burlington County Military Affairs Committee. He is also chairman of the United Way of Burlington County. Senator Haines served on the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders from 1997 to 1999, and was county clerk from 2000 to 2008. Senator Haines serves on the Budget and Appropriations committee and the Community and Urban Affairs committee.
