
Peter Biondi represents the 16th legislative district in the New Jersey General Assembly, where he has served since 1988. He has been the Republican Conference leader since 2006 and from 2002-2003 was the Assembly’s Assistant Republican Leader. Biondi serves in the Assembly on the Regulated Professions Committee, the Intergovernmental Relations Commission, and the Legislative Services Commission. The Assemblyman has a long history of public service in Hillsborough: Deputy Mayor, 1985; Mayor, 1986-93; Township committee 1983-93; Hillsborough Capital Planning Committee 1994-95; and Hillsborough Township Planning Board 1986-99. Biondi is a member of the Somerset County Youth Services Commission and served as Co-Chair in 1997. He was a Somerset County Freeholder from 1994-97 and served as Director in 1996. In 1996, Biondi served as the Joint Insurance Fund Special Commissioner, and in 1997, Biondi served on the Industrial Pollution Control Financing Authority. From 1994-96 he was on the Somerset County Planning Board. Assemblyman Biondi was in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961-1967. As an Assemblyman in 2006, Pete Biondi introduced a controversial bill which would make every website with comments/forums gather the full name and address of every poster. This information could then be turned over to anyone who claims that false or defamatory information was posted.
