Democrat Nelson T. Albano, of Vineland, was first elected to the New Jersey General Assembly on November 8, 2005.
Born March 11, 1954, Mr. Albano attended Sacred Heart High School in Vineland and received his Journeymanship in electrical trades from Cumberland County Technical School. A member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Mr. Albano is shop steward at Village Supermarkets in Vineland. He also is a certified fitness instructor at the Firm for Health and Fitness in Buena.
Following the death of his son, Michael, in 2001 by a repeat offender of New Jersey's drunk driving laws, Mr. Albano led the effort to pass a new law, strengthening penalties for repeat drunk drivers. The measure was named "Michael's Law," in honor of the Assemblyman's late son.
Mr. Albano represents the 1st Legislative District, which includes the Atlantic County municipalities of Buena, Buena Vista and Somers Point; the Cumberland County municipalities of Maurice River, Millville and Vineland; and all of Cape May County.
