
John DiMaio was chosen by the 23
rd District County Republican Committee members to fill a vacancy in the General Assembly and took office March 16, 2009.
DiMaio’s first elective office was to the Hackettstown Common Council in 1979, at the age of 23. He served on the council for 11 years, was elected Mayor in 1990 and served three terms until joining the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders in December of 2000. He was freeholder Director in 2001 and 2008.
DiMaio is a member of the Hackettstown Municipal Utilities Authority (1991 to 1995 and 1999 to the present). He served on the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority from 2001 to 2009. He was president of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors in 1999.
DiMaio was born in Newton, NJ in 1955. He was a charter member of the Hackettstown First Aid and Rescue Squad’s Youth Squad at age 16, later joined the Squad as an adult and is now a life member.
He is President of A. DiMaio and Son, a general contracting business in Hackettstown. He and his wife Gina have two daughters, Sierra and Brittani.
